This is a newly emerging technology being developed by Tripath Imaging.

ProExC TM uses the fact that specific proteins are expressed when DNA replication and control has been disrupted by HPV oncoproteins E6 and E7 and cervical neoplasia has started to develope. These proteins may be identified and quantified using highly specific molecular biomarkers MCM2 and TOP2A.

ProExC has similar sensitivity to HPV tests but a higher specficity for CIN2+ and thus can be used as a reflex test on atypical SurePath LBC cytology results. Trials are currently underway in UK.
